At The Deepings School, we are committed to creating an environment where students feel happy, safe, and supported.I understand that starting secondary school is a huge change for our students, and everyone at the school is dedicated to making the transition as smooth, exciting, and enjoyable as possible.

The move from primary school to secondary school is a huge change for both children and their parents. We recognise that to have a smooth and successful start to Year 7 it is key to provide you with all the information you need. Please take some time to explore our Year 6 - Year 7 transition information, and remember we have a dedicated transition team here to help you with any further queries.

Transition Days

  • Monday 30 June: Year 6 Induction Day 9:30am – 2:30pm
  • Tuesday 1 July: Year 6 Induction Day 9:30am – 2:30pm & Parents Welcome Evening 6 – 7pm

Please note your primary school will be in contact with you directly if they feel your child would benefit from the following:

  • Thursday 26 June: Students with additional needs Welcome Evening 5 – 6pm
  • Friday 27 June: Year 6 Induction Day for pupils with additional needs 9:30am – 2:30pm.
Tranisition Days Registration and FAQs:

Registration: Parents will need to register via the booking link below to provide us with your consent, child’s emergency contact details, any SEN or medical needs, allergies/dietary requirements.

You must ensure the booking form is completed and up to date information provided. The form will close by Friday 20 June 2025 10:00am and late bookings will not be accepted so please book early.

What are the timings of the day?

  • Drop off: 9:30am – Staff will be on hand to welcome students.
  • Pick up: 2:30pm

Will my child be provided with a snack/lunch?

Yes we will provide a snack at breaktime and a lunch for all students. You may bring a packed lunch if you prefer. It is important that you let us know via the booking form of any allergies or dietary requirements. Please be reminded that we are a nut-free school.

What do they wear?

Students must be in their primary school uniform, including appropriate footwear.

What do they need to bring?

Students do not need to bring anything with them, except for packed lunch if you have chosen to provide this. Please avoid from bringing large bags and mobile phones into school.

How do I find out more information about the school?

All parents/carers are welcome to attend the welcome evenings on Thursday 26 June or Tuesday 1 July 2025. If you are unable to attend you can contact the school for a tour.

When will my child know their form tutor group?

We aim to group children together in their form groups on the transition days. Students will receive their school timetables on the first day of term.

What if I have any issues on the day?
