Ongoing Careers and Progression Support

In addition to the events listed above, all students will take part in UNIFROG’s Careers Development Institute (CDI) spiral curriculum. This is a structured programme that gradually builds students’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in planning their future, revisiting key themes each year at a deeper level as they progress through school. The full outline of this spiral curriculum can be seen here:CDI Spiral Curriculum

Both students and parents will be provided with access to the UNIFROG online platform, which includes a comprehensive careers and subject library. This resource allows young people and their families to explore university courses, apprenticeships, training opportunities, and career pathways all in one place, helping them make well-informed decisions about next steps.

To further support families, a careers briefing is included in the weekly newsletter that is sent to parents. This includes up-to-date labour market information linked to the school’s “Job of the Week,” so parents can stay informed about employment trends, skill needs, and opportunities available to their children in the future.

Finally, to ensure careers learning is embedded across the curriculum, each subject area delivers at least one dedicated careers lesson per year. These lessons highlight how subject knowledge and skills connect to real-world careers, helping students to understand the relevance of their studies and the wide range of opportunities available beyond school.

Personalised Careers Experiences

To meet the individual needs and interests of each student, data collected from UNIFROG’s Careers and Subject Libraries, where students can add favourites to record their preferences, will be used to guide personalised support. The UNIFROG shortlisting tool also allows students to identify potential courses, careers, and opportunities that match their interests and aspirations. By analysing this information, the school can offer targeted career experiences, such as bespoke university taster events, or employer interactions, that are most relevant to each student. This approach ensures that every pupil receives guidance and opportunities tailored to their unique ambitions and strengths, helping them make informed choices about their future pathways.

In addition to the planned programme, students will also be kept informed about a wide range of virtual opportunities as they arise. These will be advertised directly to them through Microsoft Teams, ensuring they have easy access to up-to-date information. Opportunities may include virtual university events, online career insight talks, and virtual work experience placements, all of which provide valuable experiences to broaden students’ understanding of potential future pathways.
