Year 7 Netball V UAH
The year 7s travelled to University Academy Holbeach on Monday 14th March for their penultimate match of the season, following a 4th place position in their District Tournament. Both teams were excited, and the match was very equal. UAH had a lot of attacking play and special mention must go to Alisha Bakermault (GK) and Bethany Goold (GD) for some excellent defending and teamwork. By the end of the 2nd quarter, UAH were 1-0 up. UAH continued to pressure our defenders, but there was some controlled attacking play where Deeping worked the ball up the court nicely, making use of each player. The final score was 2-0 to UAH, and the U12 team will play their final match against Spalding High on Thursday 17th March.

Year 9 Netball V UAH
Personally I think the score didn't represent the level of play performed, It was a slow start for Deeping, at the end of the third quarter the score was 5-1 to UAH, but in the final quarter Deeping started to drive towards the ball, and make great interceptions allowing them to score four goals. The defensive team worked really well, and got a lot of turn overs. Well played girls! Final score - Holbeach 6 - 5 Deeping.

Year 7 Football Fixture Reports
Sir John Gleed 0 The Deepings 11
The Year 7 team ran out comfortable winners in this league fixture against the Sir John Gleed School, playing some fine football along the way and working very well together as a team. Within the first 10 minutes The Deepings were already 4 goals in front, coming from particularly good play down both wings and composed finishing. Before the half-time interval, a further two goals were added which virtually put the game beyond any doubt. In the second half, a further 5 goals were added, with the boys playing some very attractive and intelligent football, resulting in scoring some fantastic individual and team goals.

Spalding Grammar 0 The Deepings 3
The final result of this game does not reflect how competitive and hard-fought this victory was over Spalding Grammar. Coming into the game, the boys knew that they had to win to progress to the knockout stage of this league/cup tournament due to previous results. The Deepings started well, scoring in the first 5 minutes through Adam Blackbird from a fine through ball, which was expertly taken. Through the rest of the half, the game was very even, with either side really creating any chances; this was mainly due to some outstanding defending from both sides. Continuing into the second half, Spalding Grammar started to create a number of chances and with the pressure building The Deepings conceded a penalty. Fortunately for The Deepings, Max Rigby was on hand to save the resulting penalty! As the game drew to a close, two more goals were added to make the score line a little more flattering than was probably deserved for the balance of play. Overall, a good performance and the boys now progress into the knockout stage of the competition.

Lincolnshire County Futsal Tournament
After progressing through the District Futsal Finals, The Deepings U12 Futsal team competed in the County Futsal Finals at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre. The boys were in one group of 7 teams, with the first placed team progressing to the regional finals. In the first game, the boys played Carres Grammar and managed to come through 5-2, a really pleasing effort after being 2-0 down inside the first 3 minutes. The second game was a rather competitive tie against Tollbar Academy with some ‘tough’ challenges to say the least, however it ended in disappointment with Tollbar winning the game 2-0. The next two games saw straightforward victories for The Deepings, with 5-0 and 4-1 victories against Gainsborough Academy and Kings Grantham respectively. At this point, with 3 victories out of 4, The Deepings were in 2nd place trailing Carres academy by 1 point, but with a game in hand. The next match against King Edwards Louth was a hard-fought victory with The Deepings running out 2-0 winners. Due to other results, it would come down to the final game with the boys needing a victory against Skegness Academy to secure 1st place and reach the regional finals. In a rather tense encounter, the boys played some wonderful futsal and showed great composure to win 4-1 and take first place to represent Lincolnshire at the Regional Futsal Finals. The boys were brilliant throughout the day and most importantly conducted themselves very well and are a credit to the school.

Under 13 District Netball
This week was the Under 13 District Netball Tournament and the girls played some excellent netball in awful conditions. Captained by Megan Williams and Vice Captained by Hannah Knight, Hannah Buxton, Zoe Hutton, Lilly Quinn, Charlotte Sherman Smith, Imogen Sawers, Evie Carlise and Francesca Russen progressed rapidly as the tournament went on. The team has not been together long as there have been a large number of under 13's training this year which has been excellent to see and I hope they all continue to play next season. To pick a player of the tournament was a very hard task but it was shared between Imogen Sawers and Charlotte Shearman Smith for their unrelenting hard work, support for the team and ability to work together to create opportunities and turn the ball over.
