Royal Navy Chef visit

On Wednesday 4th November, Food Technology students enjoyed a visit from Gavin Brown, a chef with the Royal Navy.

Year 10 and 11 GCSE Food Technology and GCSE Catering students were given a talk on life in the Navy and were shown the contents of a ration pack.  Gavin also spoke about the humanitarian operations he has been involved in, such as the Philippines typhoon.

Later on in the day he joined Miss Brogden in a ‘Beat the Teacher’ competition where they challenged Year 10 Catering students to cook and serve a perfect Mille Feuille dessert – layers of puff pastry sandwiched together with Chantilly cream and fresh fruit.
