Annual award ceremony and presentation evening for year 11 and year 13 students

On 10 September The Deepings School welcomed over 500 guests to their annual presentation evening at the superb Kingsgate Community Centre, where the classes of 2014/15 were presented with certificates to celebrate their achievements.

Many students were also awarded additional prizes to represent the whole range of subject areas, sporting achievements and work within the community.

Making the award presentations this year was special guest Claire Burgess from Soar Developments. Claire gave an inspirational speech with the theme of growing and developing. Claire said:  “In my business I help individuals and groups develop skills to progress towards goals and to understand and recognise skills and strengths. Top tips are to focus on how to be the best version of you; that the only person that will shape your future is you and to say yes to opportunities – don’t let fear get in the way!”

Guests were entertained during the evening with a superb range of musical performances from some very talented students, and had opportunities to enjoy some refreshments and talk with staff and community representatives after the formalities had taken place.

The proceedings were overseen by the Chair of Governors, Jonathan Theobalds and a vote of thanks and presentation to our guest presenter was made by Head Boy and Head Girl Chay Dummett and Hayley Cancea.

Headteacher Mr Richard Trow said: “We were delighted to welcome our special guest and ex-student Claire Burgess, so many of our students, their families, members of the community and staff to our annual presentation evening at the Kingsgate Conference Centre.

Performances across many GCSE subject were very strong and good progress was made. At A-level our results were among the school’s best ever with a 98% overall pass rate. We are justly proud of all our students and wish them every success in the future.”
