Deeping Primary Schools Athletics & Cricket Festival

Back to News

This has been a very busy few weeks of sport for our local primary schools and all the events have been run and officiated by students from years 10 and 12 doing their Level One and Level Two Sports Leadership Awards.  Over 250 primary school children have taken part in the events and 40 of our students have helped in running them.

Children from years three to six took part in long jump, high jump and throwing events and also a range of sprints, distance and relay races.  Success was shared around all the schools with children from each of them winning individual medals.  The overall track trophy went to Linchfield School for the second year running.

Children from years three and four also had the opportunity to go along to Deeping Cricket Club for a day and receive coaching in a range of cricket skills and the opportunity to play in fun games of cricket all delivered by our year 10 students.

The Sports Leaders did a fantastic job in their coaching and officiating and all the primary school children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the various sporting activities.
