Ofsted Reports

"Leaders have systematically addressed all the areas identified as needing improvement at the last inspection" Ofsted 2021

June 2021

We would like to thank those parents and carers who contacted the school both before and during the inspection to share their kind words and positive feedback about their experience of The Deepings School.  We would also like to thank anybody who completed the online Parent View survey.

The report confirms the findings of the previous inspection in January 2020 that both the Quality of Education and Leadership and Management are good at the Deepings School.  Furthermore, the HMI, Deborah Mosley, confirmed that we have systematically addressed all the areas identified as needing improvement at the last inspection and are, therefore, are taking effective action in order for the school to become a good school.

We are delighted that the progress our school has made since the last inspection has been formally recognised.   The report noted that,

“Leaders are determined to improve the school and have not allowed the COVID-19 pandemic to detract from their main purpose of providing a good quality of education and promoting pupils’ safety and well-being.”

Given the disruption to education since the previous inspection just before lockdown last year, these findings are a testament to the hard work of our staff and students and the support of our parents and carers.  The school received thirteen targets in January 2020 and has now reduced these to just two areas of focus, showing that everyone’s hard work is paying off.

The fact that this feedback is based not only on the inspector’s first-hand experience of our school but also on over 200 responses from parents and carers, means that we are particularly pleased with the high level of whole community satisfaction this year.  The responses to the Ofsted Parent View survey have shown a marked upward trajectory since the last inspection and a considerably higher level of satisfaction than during the inspection in 2017.

The focus areas will be addressed in our 2021/22 school development plan and we can expect a further full inspection in the 2021/22 academic year.

I would also like to thank our students, parents, staff, governors, trust and the wider Deepings community for the way in which they have embraced the many changes that have been implemented since the previous inspection. We look forward to your continued support next year and beyond, as we do our utmost to provide the best education possible at The Deepings School.
