Weekly News from Mr Beckett (13th June 2014)

Back to News
A very busy week for all staff; but another very positive one.
Y12 return: our Y12 students returned to school after the recent AS exams and appear to have settled back in very well.
Open Morning: another huge turn out on Monday morning. This format is very popular and as always parents were impressed with the feel of what they saw, the calmness around the corridors and classrooms.
Subject Leaders: had a lively and positive meeting on Monday after school.
Assemblies: Mrs Chapman led assemblies this week on the 'D - day landings' - they were excellent.
Y6 Welcome Evening: a superb evening. Parents and students arrived by College; so, we did 3 presentations on the hour with parents while students were with the College teams. Excellent inputs by all.
Y12-13 Transition: led by the 6th Form team and obviously focussing on what is needed for Y13.
Sports Day: my last and I was disappointed to miss it; a lovely day with some fantastic competition. The best College event by far, to date.
Y7 Progress Evening: apparently another positive evening.
Hunstanton: almost all of Y7 students went to Hunstanton for their geography field trip, led by the outstanding Mr Smith.
Exams: the last big one for Y11 with maths yesterday; they were superb throughout the morning and left with real dignity.
I attended the CfBT (ASCL / NAHT) Conference at the ICC in Birmingham for the last three days. It was on Inspiring Leadership and I have to say it was the best event I have attended in my career!

Kind regards

Mr C Beckett
