1. Can I come and look around the School.
Of course you can.
Annual Open Evening
This is our main event for parents and children. It is scheduled for Tuesday 8 October 2019
We have a number of Open Mornings throughout the year. These are an ideal opportunity to have a tour of the school on a normal working day. These take place at 10am and last about an hour.
Upcoming dates are:
Thursday 10, Friday 11, Monday 14, Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 October.
If you’d like to visit on a Discovery Morning, then please ring or email the school to reserve a place.
2. What is your catchment area?
Our school does not have a catchment area.
Admissions to our school are ranked according to our oversubscription criteria which are summarised below. The full policy can be found in our documents and policies section.
Allocation of School Places
In accordance with the 1996 Education Act the allocation of school places for children with an Educational Health Care Plan, EHCP, (formerly known as Statement of Special Educational Needs) will take place first. We will then allocate the remaining places in accordance with our admissions policy.
The oversubscription criteria are listed in the order that they are applied:
Oversubscription Criteria (for entry in September 2020)
A. The child is, or has previously been, in the care of the Local Authority (see note 1).
B. Children of members of staff provided that they have been employed for a minimum of two years at the time of application and/or are recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skills shortage.
C. There is a brother or sister (see note 2) on roll at the school at the time of application.
D. The Deepings School is the nearest non-selective school to the child's home address (see note 3).
E. The straight line distance from the child's home address (see note 4) to the school. Priority will be given to the child living nearest the school (see note 5).
Words marked with a number, for example 1, 2 and 3 are explained separately in the definition and notes section of our policy (see the full policy for definitions).
If the distance criterion is not sufficient to distinguish between two or more applicants for the last remaining place; then a lottery will be drawn by an independent person, not employed by the school or working in the Children's Services Department at the Local Authority.

3. I live in Stamford/Peterborough/Bourne/Spalding will I get a place?
We take students from a wide area.
It is difficult to predict where the distance criterion will finish each year.
The distance is affected by several factors, including the number of children living in the locality and the choices made by other applicants. Past mileage is not necessarily an indicator of future distances. Every year is different.

The distances quoted are for the last place offered on the 1 March each year.
There will be a second round of allocations in the middle of April each year; when families living further from the school may be offered places.
Places will continue to be offered throughout the summer term as places become available.
Please note: there was a change to our admission policy for entries from September 2018; the distance a child lives from the school (oversubscription criteria E) is now measured by straight line distance, not driving distance (see question 2 for information on oversubscription criterion).
4. I live in Peterborough/Cambridgeshire (or another county). Can I apply?
Yes you can.
Living in a different county does not affect your right to apply. Your application will be ranked according to our oversubscription criteria (explained in question 2).
To apply, you should complete the online application form provided by your Local Authority. This application form will give you the option to apply for schools in Lincolnshire.
If you have difficulty completing the form, please contact your Local Authority or our School Admissions Manager for advice and help.
5. How will I get my child to school?
The town has good public transport links.
The school does not provide any transport. Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) is responsible for providing home-school transport for eligible students.
Each school in Lincolnshire has its own transport area. If you live within our transport area, and meet the LCC criteria (see LCC website for more details), then you could be entitled to transport to our school. This is usually a bus pass on a designated route. These buses drop off and collect from the school.
If you live at an address outside our transport area, your sons and daughters can still attend our school, but transport will be your responsibility. Many students travel on buses as fare-paying passengers.
All decisions on granting home-school transport are made by Lincolnshire County Council, not the school. All queries should be directed to the home-school transport team.

6. When is the deadline for applying?
Usually noon on 31 October each year.
(please check your Local Authority, some do differ slightly).
7. Does it matter which order I put schools on the application form?
It really is important that you put your favourite school down as your first preference.
The Local Authority will try to place your sons and daughters into your school of choice. If they have to give you a lower preference school, then you will go onto the waiting list for the school you prefer.
In addition, you have a right of appeal (see question 9).
8. When will I hear if I have a place?
On the 1 March 2019.
If you have applied on line you will be able to log-on and view your offer.
If you have applied using a paper form you will receive a letter in the post. The letter could arrive on, or after, 1 March.
9. What do I do if I don't get a place?
If you are not able to get a place for your child in the school of your choice, you have the right to an independent appeal.
