Week ending 4th October
Parent Voice - the first meeting of the year was well attended and very positive. The meeting was held in the new 6th Form Centre and we covered the following - introduction and welcome from the Chair of Governors; a brief review of the summer and the new term; a presentation by Mrs Boreham and Mrs Chapman on a new homework and marking project; questions from the floor.
Industrial action - on Tuesday was inconvenient for us all. The students from Years 11, 12 and 13 who were in school had a pretty positive day, only missing the odd lesson here and there. Hopefully, there will be no further action this term, I will keep you informed.
The Year 12 teambuilding day held at Tallington on Thursday was very successful and on Friday our Y11 geography students spent the day in Cambridge collecting data for their coursework. I received the following compliment from a member of the public in Cambridge before the students returned!
'It was delightful to meet some of your Year 11 Geography students in Cambridge this morning, carrying out a questionnaire. They were smartly dressed, well behaved, charming to talk to and a credit to their school! I wish them well.'
The new 6th Form Centre has now been formally handed over to the school and we will be holding an Open Evening on Monday 28th October for the community to come in and have a look at all of the new facilities.
The first of the Inter College competitions took place this week with X Country seeing a good turn out.
Week Ending 11th October
Open mornings - we have had two very busy mornings this week with lots of prospective Year 6 students and their parents taking the opportunity to tour the school.
College ties - new ties have arrived, at last, for our KS4 students.
Governors met, on Thursday, for the first time this academic year to discuss the exam results from the Summer and also agree the School priorities for this year. The meeting was held in the new 6th Form Centre.
Half term - will see further work take place; new roofs on some areas of the school; new flooring and decoration of main public corridors and areas; overhaul of garden and outdoor areas; new photographs and signs throughout the school.
Community Open Evening - will take place on Monday 28th October and will be an opportunity for parents and members of the community to have a look at our new facilities. Tours will start in main reception; go through the Conference centre; view the newly refurbished School Hall and English classrooms; look into Additional Needs and then end up in the new 6th Form Centre for refreshments. All are welcome.
