Dear Families of The Deepings School

There is much to celebrate at the school this week with regards to achievements which contribute to the Personal Development aspect of your child's education.  I am delighted to share the school has achieved the platinum award level of the  National Careers Quality Standard Mark.  The externally assessed report demonstrates an exemplary approach to careers education, information and guidance at the school.  This is an accolade the school is proud to hold and has done for a number of years.  It shows the commitment the school has to ambitious careers education.  Our schools careers lead, Mrs Taylor, works very hard to support our students and the award is a culmination of her commitment to the school and careers education.  Thank you Mrs Taylor!  The award is timely, as upcoming national events include National Apprenticeship week in February and National Careers Week in March.  Information will be shared in due course regarding activities being organised.

One of our extra curricular clubs is the First Lego League. Last weekend three teams from the Deepings School participated in the first round of the international competition.  All teams were successful in receiving medals and prizes, with one of our teams coming first.  This places them in the England final to be held in Harrogate later int he Spring.  Well done to all students involved and thanks to Mr Walton and MRs Thompson for supporting.   Please read the article on our news page for further information.

Last week I wrote about our rewards system going live as of Monday.  Our new initiative sees students exchange points or rewards.  On the first day the system received over 1,300 orders as students exchanged their points for stationery items, queue jump passes and more.  Our 'rewards store' will continue to develop as students give their ideas for rewards and additional items added.  The unprecedented demand has meant we are a little slower on delivery and we appreciate students understanding.   Our more plentiful points system is having an impact on students and they are enjoying the benefits of receiving points.

I am pleased to see an improvement in uniform and conduct of students over the week.  This stems from the promotion of our school values of Kindness, Respect and Ambition, along with the support from you as parents and carers.  Thank you for your continued support with our initiatives, which are having a positive impact on the culture and ethos of The Deepings School.

Finally, good luck to our trampolinists, who are competing in the Central region competition this weekend.  I hope to share good news of their results next week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Kind regards

Ms Johnson
